SOAR

What is S.O.A.R?

Calling all 10th-12th graders with a passion for discovery and critical thinking!

Fernbank Science Center's Students of Advanced Research (SOAR) program is your gateway to mastering STEM Skills. In one semester, students take two courses: Advanced Placement (AP) Seminar and Microbiology. In AP Seminar, students explore real-world problems, analyze diverse perspectives, and refine their ability to present compelling arguments. The Microbiology course extends learning from biology through hands-on investigations with a focus on research and the environment. Students will study microbial physiology, ecology and genetics while exploring real-world impacts on health, agriculture and biotechnology. Case studies and career connections in science, healthcare, and industry will be emphasized throughout the course.
