Green Salamander

Description

  • 3-5 inches in length
  • green markings on black background
  • square-tipped toes

Habitat
These salamanders are generally found in sandstone ledge crevices, under rocks, rotting trees, and stumps. The flattened head and body are adapted for getting around in tight places.

Range
They range from extreme northeastern Mississippi through northern Alabama and up through Tennessee, eastern Kentucky and most of West Virginia.
