Cindy Reittinger joined the Fernbank Science Center staff in 2014 bringing with her a wealth of experience from the nonprofit world and state government. Most recently she served as the Chief Naturalist for Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites where she supported interpretive programs statewide, trained staff naturalists and created a Junior Ranger Program for children. Prior to that she worked as the Education Director at the Atlanta Botanical Garden where she coordinated education programs for all ages and served on the planning team for their award-winning Children’s Garden. Before moving to Atlanta Cindy worked for several seasons as a summer naturalist with the National Park Service and Ohio State Parks and taught biology as an Instructor at Purdue University. “My career has been inspired by a passion for science and a commitment to sharing the wonders of the natural world with others. At Fernbank I can continue on that path – I thrive on the creative outlet that teaching provides and I am looking forward to working directly with children again.”
