Fernbank is a unique facility providing both formal and informal education to DeKalb County students, teachers and parents. The Center's primary mission is to support classroom instruction in the DeKalb School System. This involves
(a) teaching outreach classes, in which instructors travel to local schools
to do presentations and facilitate experiments, and
(b) hosting visiting programs in which classes come to study and work in
Fernbank's laboratories.
There are many other types of programs, and many opportunites for creative innovation.
When there are positions open we need people with content-knowledge and advanced degrees in specific fields of science. Fernbank instructors work with all sorts of people of all ages, so we are looking for evidence of ability to communicate with a public which has a wide range of knowledge and sophistication.
All instructional positions require some evening and weekend work.
