Field Marks
  • White eye ring
  • Orange central crown stripe with black border
  • White underparts with dense black streaking
  • Olive upperparts

Habitat

Ovenbirds are found in mature deciduous or mixed broadleaf-conifer forest with little undergrowth, and occasionally pine forests. An abundance of leaf litter on the forest floor is essential for foraging and nest building. 

Status

Ovenbirds are summer residents in the Atlanta area but are most often seen during spring migration.
