Field Marks
  • Thin, pointed bill
  • Yellow face and underparts
  • Olive upperparts
  • Pink legs
  • Considerable amount of white in outer tail feathers
  • Black head and yellow face

Habitat

Prefers undergrowth in shady forests of the southeast. Males sing from mid-levels of the canopy, but forage lower.  Nest is built close to the ground in dense shrubs.

Status

Hooded warblers are common in the Atlanta area during spring and fall migration.
