Habitat

The American goldfinch prefers weedy fields and flood plains in the breeding range. These habitats include cultivated lands, roadsides, orchards, and gardens. 

Status

A permanent resident that is common throughout the year.  Pay close attention to flower gardens and thickets that border grassy areas.
