Spring Peeper
Pseudacris crucifer

Description

  • small animal attaining an adult length of only a little over an inch long
  • dorsal marks form an X on the back. It usually isn't a perfect X, but some form of it
  • general coloration is a variation of brown, gray, or green

Habitat

Spring peepers are a woodland-woodland edge species. They are not found in open areas or large bodies of water. Smaller wetlands, even some that may dry up later in summer are used for breeding by spring peepers.

Found throughout the eastern United States
