• Long, straight, thin bill
• Bright green back and crown
• White underparts with greenish flanks
• Iridescent scarlet throat
• Black face and chin
• Entirely dark forked tail

Habitat

During the breeding season, the species can be found in woods, orchards, and gardens. 

Status

The ruby-throated hummingbird is common in the metro-Atlanta area in flower gardens and are attracted to feeders.  However, they are much less common inside the perimeter due to declining habitat.
