Field Marks
  • Red eye
  • White supercilium bordered above by a dark line and below by a dark eye line
  • Gray crown contrasts with olive-green back and upper wings
  • No wing bars
  • White underparts

Habitat

One of the more common canopy birds in the eastern deciduous forest.  Forages on insects in the mid-canopy.  Nests in the mid to upper canopy.  Can be difficult to see, but is often heard.

Status in Altanta

Common summer resident. Also commonly seen and heard during spring and fall migration
