Atlanta Connections in Science
A ScienceMakers Presentation

On Friday evening, February 3, 2012, as part of Black History Month, DeKalb County School District’s Fernbank Science Center hosted the Atlanta Connections in Science a ScienceMakers presentation featuring science professionals with Atlanta area connections. Guest speakers included Ayanna Howard of Georgia Institute of Technology, Ralph Etienne-Cummings of John Hopkins University, Joycelyn Harrison of Wright-Patterson Airforce Base, John Hall of Morehouse College and Woodrow Whitlow, Jr. of Mission Support, NASA HQ. Atlanta’s WSB-TV/Channel 2’s Jocelyn Dorsey moderated the event. After their presentations, the scientists answered questions from Ms. Dorsey and the audience. Preceding the event featured catered hors d'oeuvres and punch in the lower exhibit hall prepared by Chief Rian MacDonald and his students from Warren Tech Culinary School. In addition to the Atlanta Connections in Science presentation, visitors were also treated to two photographic exhibitions: A Flight of a Lifetime - The Tuskegee Airmen and Perceptions of Africa by Dr Larry Wilson.
