Students learn several aeronautic skills as they prepare to complete their simulated mission.

Aircraft Design

Using technology in computer-assisted designing (CAD) students design aircraft and chart a flight path using actual flight routing software.


Wind Tunnel/FoilSim

A knowledge of how an aircraft flies is essential for any pilot, not just for aeronautical engineers.  With an actual working wind tunnel, as well as a computer simulated wind tunnel activity at their disposal, students design and test aeronautical models.

GPS/Amatuer Radio

Students use a Global Positioning System and an amateur radio station to gather information related to aviation and geography.


As any air traveler knows, accurate and timely information on the weather is critical.  Students gather meteorological data to use in planning their cross country flight.


Virtual Reality Flight

Using a head-mounted display unit and a computer generated display, students fly a virtual reality airplane across country by themselves.

Remote Sensing

Students work with actual photographs taken from aircraft and satellites to determine how data can be gathered for research   into a variety of scientific topics as well as land use planning and evaluation.
